Improving the Quality of Life for Patients
In the five decades since Marion Eye Centers & Optical first opened their doors in 1974, they’ve grown into a multi-specialty ophthalmological practice providing comprehensive medical, surgical and optical services to the communities of southern Illinois and southeast Missouri. Known for their commitment to keeping pace with cutting-edge technology, Marion Eye Centers & Optical provides their patients with the skilled expertise necessary to treat every eye disorder and disease.
Founder Dr. M. Ahmad realized early on that in order for Marion Eye Centers & Optical to offer patients the highest quality, most effective treatments for their vision, it was imperative to have the latest technology in-house. As such, MEC maintains on the premises the most advanced lasers and diagnostic equipment available, putting them ahead of even the nation’s largest metropolitan area practices:
- Optical Coherence Tomography, or OCT, enables state-of-the-art optic nerve and retinal imaging. OCT is currently most often used to examine the macula in ARMD (age-related macular degeneration)
- Many people don’t understand that not all LASIK surgery is the same. The iLASIK procedure is the result of a decade’s worth of technical refinement—it combines all of the latest iLASIK technology in one efficient blade free LASIK procedure. iLasik has been approved for astronauts and the military.
- Most locations also have on site YAG, Argon, Focal, SLT, PRP and Diode lasers. As well as diagnostic equipment including the GDX, Pachymeter, Topography, and Visual Fields to accurately diagnose a myriad of diseases and disorders of the eye.
Marion Eye Centers & Optical have also expanded their ophthalmological practice specialties with the recent grand openings of an ultra-modern Surgery Center - built expressly for eye surgery - and the brand new Retina Institute. They have also added highly trained medical and surgical specialists to the physician staff at each of these locations.
Marion Eye Centers & Optical also offers the widest variety of prescription lenses and frames available in their Optical Centers. From basic glasses to high-definition digital eyeglass lenses that potentially give the patient sharper vision than what was ever possible with conventional eyeglasses. These lenses are designed to provide sharper vision in all lighting conditions, provide wider progressive lens corridors, keeping the prescription optically true over a much wider zone in the lens and reduce glare reduce glare for nighttime driving and other night vision tasks. Marion Eye Centers & Optical has the right eyeglass solution for every patient.
All of the dedicated professionals at each of the 32 Marion Eye Centers & Optical office locations, the Surgery Center, and the Retina Institute are attentive, caring individuals trained to deliver the kind of highest-caliber care patients have come to appreciate and expect.
