Eye Care IllinoisThe dedicated team at Marion Eye Center and Optical services patients in 36 locations among the areas of Illinois and Missouri. The doctors provide not only treatment for adults, but children. With pediatric eye care solutions for children of all ages, parents can trust and rely on our team to spot eye health problems early enough for successful intervention.

Our team utilizes today’s advanced technologies to achieve better eye health and vision for children and adults. Many parents who bring their child to our office for an eye examination are often curious as to what their child can expect during their time in our practice. Our doctors will vary the method of examination based on the age of the child.

Most screenings and evaluations for children will include many of the following steps:

  • Examination of the eye, pupil, and cornea
  • Tests to ensure the eyes are properly aligned
  • Tests for checking the vision of each eye
  • Screening to rule out common vision problems such as tumors or neurological diseases

Why is it important for children to have regular vision examinations?

School-aged children who are experiencing vision problems may not voice these concerns with their parents. Many vision problems may go undiagnosed, and may appear as a child who does not take down notes during class or cannot follow directions their teachers may write on the markerboard. By screening annually for vision concerns, most problems are caught early enough for successful intervention. Treatment options can be discussed, whether they include certain procedures or just vision correcting lenses or glasses.
