Details about Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is one of the most common oculoplastic procedures performed today. The procedure may be conducted by a cosmetic plastic surgeon, or by a trained oculoplastic surgeon, whom is also often an ophthalmologist. This outpatient procedure is carefully performed on the upper or lower eyelids, or both, to reduce the appearance of heaviness and hooding or under eye bags. The small incisions that are made are placed in areas where scarring if it does occur, is easily hidden.

With age, the strands of collagen that provide firmness and support to the skin gradually and progressively degrade. The weakening of superficial structures is particularly noticeable around the eyes.
